Why Do Some Have Shortness of Breath ?

Why Do Some Have Shortness of Breath ?

Shortness of breath refers to the sensation of not being able to take in enough air while breathing.

This shortness of breath experience is common during exercise or strenuous physical activity when your body requires more oxygen. However, difficulty breathing can also indicate an underlying health issue.

Breathing difficulty is one of the top serious health issues in Malaysia.

Certain medical conditions can lead to acute shortness of breath, which occurs instantaneously and typically improves with treatment. In contrast, chronic shortness of breath is characterised by frequent difficulty in breathing, often with minimal exertion.

Shortness of breath may be caused by below conditions or others:
• Anaphylaxis
• Asthma
• Blocked airways.
• Blood loss that happens suddenly.
• Carbon monoxide poisoning
• COPD
• Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
• Fluid buildup around the heart, called cardiac tamponade.
• Heart attack
• Heart arrhythmia
• Heart failure
• Pneumonia and other lung infections.
• Pneumothorax
• Pulmonary embolism

If you experience issues with shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, please consult a doctor immediately. The doctor will propose several suitable medical solutions.

Commonly, the doctor or medical representative will recommend a reliable solution, which is the use of a Portable Oxygen Concentrator. Portable oxygen concentrators (POCs) are an essential medical device. They help patients with respiratory conditions get supplemental oxygen.

One of the popular Portable Oxygen Concentrators is the Inogen Rove 6.
The Rove 6 is portable, lightweight (4.8 lbs), quiet, has six flow settings, up to 12.75 hours of power, and is designed for comfort and reliability.
